Plagiarism Policy

Edu Islamica: Journal of Islamic Education maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding plagiarism. If plagiarism is identified in any article submitted for publication, the following specific actions (penalties) will be enforced.

Plagiarism is defined as "the use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work." Every article must be original, previously unpublished, and unmodified. Any material taken verbatim from other sources must be clearly distinguished from the current original text through (1) indentation, (2) the use of quotation marks, and (3) the inclusion of a proper citation. Any text exceeding fair use standards or any graphic material reproduced from other sources requires permission from the copyright holder and, where possible, from the original author. Furthermore, sources must be explicitly identified, including previous publications.

All submitted articles will be screened for similarity using Turnitin. If plagiarism is detected, the Managing Editor responsible for reviewing the article will determine the appropriate course of action based on the level of similarity found, according to the following guidelines:

Similarity Index Above 35%: The article is Rejected (due to poor citation or paraphrasing; the article is immediately rejected and is NOT eligible for resubmission).
Similarity Index (20% - 35%): The article is Returned to the Author for Revision (the author is required to provide correct citations for all similar sections and perform proper paraphrasing, even if citations were previously provided).
Similarity Index Less than 20%: The article is Accepted or may require citation improvements (proper citations must be provided for all externally sourced text).

In cases involving points 2 and 3, authors must carefully revise the article, include all necessary citations, and effectively paraphrase the external text. Additionally, authors must resubmit the article along with a Turnitin report demonstrating the absence of plagiarism and a similarity score of less than 20%.
